Takes
on retro
According to Lucire
writer, Corky Davidov, "todays young fashion consumers
see retro as fresh and new, particularly since combining vintage
styles with current styles has become an established trend."
Three designers give retro a new look for Spring 2003 with different
interpretions of fashion from the 40s, 50s and 60s.
Nanette Lepore chose to bring several established looks back from
the past: minis, hot pants, polka dots, keyhole necklines, fuller
hair, ponytails, boots and clunky shoes.
Cynthia Steffes looks were inspired by Baileys photographs
of Brigitte Bardot and Jean Shrimpton. In this collection, Steffe
brings feminine touches to her fitted silhouettes by using satin
fabic for bomber jackets, floral printed denim in cargo capris.
Hairdos are sideswept and accented with a single shoulder-length
fringed earring.
Y & Kei, adds and an avant-garde spin, targeting the young
and hip. The Korean husband and wife team, Hanii Y Yoon
and Gene Kei Kang use unstructured designs and dramatic
accessories.
All
about eyebrows
Sharon Haver of FocusOnStyle,
writes that eyebrow shapes and styles do change with fashion and
as your face ages. In search of the perfect brow, many women pluck,
wax and even shave their eyebrows. So, it is no surprize that they
may find themsleves with either a thin line, or bald patches when
they want a fuller look.
Fortunately, there is a solution. Haver recommends Rogaine. It works
with the natural growth process and texture of hair by lengthening
the growth phase of the hair cycle allowing hair follicles that
had become dormant to become active again. During the process
of regrowth, Haver recommends that you resist the temptation
to pluck. Fill in your brows with an eyebrow pencil or brow powder
for a natural look.
